Client Presentation

Meeting with David Marsden Friday 21st November 2008

I showed the client the home page and follow on page for both design ideas. I printed them out on paper for ease.

1)

I explained that the first design tied in both the name Stepping Stones and the foot from the logo. The existing website is very weakly branded as it uses the incorrect logo, hands, balloons and a jigsaw piece!

2)

This design ties in the name stepping stones with the service the company provides... ie care for children from birth to after school age.

Client Feedback
David said he liked the second design the most as it shows the transition through the ages better than the first design. The manager Shell joined the meeting at this point and said she preferred this design for the same reason and also because she felt it had the most impact visually and the colours tied into their logo better. I was pleased too as this design would be easier to build with the large images and single tone side panels.

They preferred the top section of the first design as it's clearer and easier to read. This is better too as it gives more room for more links down the left. I will put the address in the top section too though as the stones will be coming from the right hand corner so there won't be room there for an address.

Shell said if at all possible she'd prefer to use their own photos of children for the main images but they would need parental consent first. They showed me the photographs they had but I don't think they're as eye catching or as strong as these images. The main reason for that is that they have to take photos of their children in play and not posed.

The colour scheme was particularly a hit as they've just ordered a new uniform in the exact same turquoise colour that I've used on the side panels!

They also mentioned that the majority of text on the current website is very out of date and needs changing completely! Shell is going to get all the information together while I'm building the bones of the site and we'll have a discussion as soon as one of us is ready. David wants the website ready for the new year, which is great as it fits in nicely with this project! I do hope they manage to get all the text ready in time though as I want to get it finished in time.

Extra elements they would like including are the Ofsted Report, vouchers available for over 3 year olds, fees payable in advance and meal plans or example of children's diet
