The client: Stepping Stones Nursery

Matthew (my six year old boy) used to go to Stepping Stones Day Nursery. I bumped into the owner David Marsden on Friday 5th September and told that I had set up a web design company doing graphic design and illustration too. He said he'd just had his web site built but would be interested in having his PDFs updated as they had just been scanned in.

I went to visit him at the nursery on Monday 15th September so we could discuss his requirements. He showed me his website and I was very underwhelmed by it, and it seemed to lack the corporate identity and liveliness that the nursery radiates. He was using Adobe Contribute to upload content onto the website, that the previous web design company, Webanywhere, had set up for him. It was however very restrictive in the way that he was unable to alter any of the design whatsoever, which wasn't really an option anyway as David isn't very good on computers. David was still struggling with Contribute a little though so it really didn't seem like the best option available to him.

David did mention that he finds it a pain having to maintain the website himself and would really appreciate someone doing it for him instead. As he'd only recently had the website built he was interested in me taking over the maintenance of the existing website. I looked into Contribute and whether there would be any option of me amending the site for him, however there wasn't. The only other option to improved his site therefore would be to redo it completely! I put together a quotation with this in mind.
